2024 Summer Day Camp
For summer 2024, we will offer six weeks of Day Camp. Campers are ages 6-12 and a Leaders In Training (LIT) are ages 13-15. There are only 25 camper positions per week and 5 LIT positions per week. Those enrolled as LITs will enjoy aspects of day camp AND assist with its operation. LITs should consider this as an opportunity to build valuable skills for the professional world.
One-Time Application Fee: $25 per Camper/LIT
Camper Registration: $100 per week
LIT Registration: $80 per week
The age control date is June 1, 2024 for both Campers and LITs.
Through our Summer Day Camp, Madison County Recreation Department strives to provide a wholesome experience for children and youth where they can learn about themselves and the world around them. Day Camp will find a balance across the board; between high-energy and low-key activities, individual reflection and team effort, organized games and free play, and thought-provoking and athletic. It’s our goal to be supportive in helping participants build confidence in stepping out of their comfort zones. Whether we are at the Recreation Department’s facilities or on a field trip in the surrounding community, we will explore the world around us!
Registration Information
Registration for summer day camp opens on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 9:00am and is on a first come, first served basis. Registration costs for 2024 are $100 per week for campers, $80 per week for Leaders in Training (LITs). New in 2021, there is a one-time $25 application fee per child registered. (please see details below). Parents are able to register their child for as many weeks of camp as they wish, as long as there is availability. A minimum, nonrefundable 25% of registration fees for each week, plus the $25 registration fee are due at the time of registration to reserve your child’s spot. If you wish to only pay the 25% minimum or pay by cash/check, you must complete registration in person at MCRD's office. If a week is full, you will have the option to be placed on the waitlist for any weeks that are full (see waitlist procedures below). Payment in full is due for all registration for all weeks by 5:00pm Friday May 10th, 2024. If payment is not received in full by this time, you will forfeit your registration and MCRD reserves the right to fill those weeks with another camper on the waitlist. MCRD will not facilitate payment plans, but individuals can make as many payments that are needed between the time of registration and the May 10th due date. Additional payments must be made in person at the Recreation Department's Office with cash or check. It is the sole responsibility of the individual registering their child for full, on-time payment. Assistance with registration, including access to a computer, will be provided at the MCRD office during normal business hours. Registration and payment will not be accepted through mail.
Application Fee
There is a one-time $25 application fee that applies to each camper and LIT which you register. It is not a per week fee. The application fee does not apply if you are only registering for the waitlist, but if you have a week of camp in your cart, the application fee will apply. Campers and LITs coming off the waitlist will be charged the application fee if they have not already done so previously. The minimum 25% payment of registration fees does not apply to the application fee.
Waitlist Procedures
To ensure an enjoyable and safe atmosphere for both campers and staff, there is a maximum number of campers allowed per week. You may find that a week has reached its capacity while registering, and if this is the case you will have the option of being placed on a waitlist. As openings become available, MCRD staff will call individuals in the order in which they were placed on the waitlist. These spots are filled on a first come first serve basis; if one spot becomes available during all six weeks of the program, the child listed as number one on the waitlist will have first priority in securing those spots. MCRD staff will call the phone number(s) provided during registration and will leave voicemails if participants do not answer. Participants will have 24 hours to confirm their camper’s spot after receiving the initial phone call or voicemail by submitting payment in full, including the one-time application fee. Saturdays and Sundays do not count towards 24 hours). Registration fees for waitlist spots are due in full to confirm spot. If 24 hours pass without receiving confirmation and payment, staff will move on to next person on the waitlist until the spot is filled.
Refunds and Nonrefundable Deposit
25% of registration fees and the $25 application fee are nonrefundable. We understand that things may come up after registering your child for camp and it may become necessary to withdraw them for one or all of their weeks. If this is the case, please let us know as soon as possible. If you withdraw prior to 5:00pm May 10th, 2024, any amount in excess of the nonrefundable 25% of registration fees will be refunded. After May 13th, refunds will only be issued if 1) a two week notice is given from the start of the camper’s session AND 2) MCRD staff can find someone to take their spot from the waitlist. No refunds will be issued within two weeks from the start of the camper's session.
